Topic: fuel filters

on my early style carbs under the float valve seat, there is a little cute fuel filter (times 4 ok).
if i'm running an inline fuel filter to carbs, do I still need these little filters?

Under the bowls? The tubes these are in, where do they go?

btw these are 750
the float operates a valve...the valve is in a seat.. when you screw the seat out, there is a filter attached to it. the filter is fine mesh and is easily removed or replaced

I have not seen those. Maybe earlier years had those but I have not heard of that. Maybe the PO put in the mesh in place of a proper filter.

Yeah, the Goldwing CV has those too.

I'm assuming that you have the CV keihin's.

Unless the filters are torn or clogged so they can't be cleaned, Why not stick'm back in?

They are on my '75 CB750F also. Standard Keihin carbs.
I believe that the bike was all original when it arrived.
Only 10500 original miles and it appeared that it had not been run in about 22 years or so.

i think the idea of an inline fuel filter is it gets clogged, and is much easier to replace than cleaning that small mesh filter *inside* the carbs.

And assuming the in-lines are transparent, and most are, you get a sense for the "crud level" even before it restricts flow.
