Obviously they're hoping to do a "switcheroo" using all diecast K0 or K1 components into those cases once they get them repaired.
Of course.

I don't see them being wrth what the bids have hit, obviously some people think they are though.

The reasons I don't see the value is simply because of the cracks and corrosion, and who knows what damage the rust has done in the transmission area. (red oxide = HUGE expansion) by the time you have them repaired you will have another $1000 to $2000 into the cases alone.
Also, judging by the rust and oxidation, it's a very good indication that the thing was sitting outside with water in it, does it freeze where it was? (salem oregon? I'd say YES) If so it's a fair assumption that the cases themselves have been distorted by ice.

And after putting all the money into the cases, collecting parts to build an engine with them, and collecting all the frame peices,  you still will NOT have an 'original' sandcast bike, it will be an assembled bike with expensive parts. (something that for some reason doesn't seem as important to the sandcast crowd, try selling any other  'assembled' vehicle as an 'original' and you'll often end up in court)

salem doesn't freeze that much...but it sure does rain.

Like I said, ol' Sandguss is no idiot, but I was surprised at that money, I would have thought maybe $1000.00, but like I said, I'm guessing he's got a frame just waiting for an engine.

I must email my mate in Sweethome Oregon, and see if he's still got his sandcast roller propping up his outhouse..........  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

It was a low # like 200 something, was it not?

I was never convinced that those cases would not clean up.

They pull planes out of the sea & restore them.. same thing..

Engine No was 1822, so fairly low, I guess? I wonder how many of the aircraft engines that they pull out of salt water ever fly again?

I reckon old 'Guss is gonna have fun getting those shifter shafts etc out, I hope he's got plenty of gas for his cutting torch, ha ha! ;D

Silly boy. They've had indoor plumbing in Sweethome for at least the last 8 years or so...

Yeah, well the bike's been propping up that building since 1999, from memory. It must be just about "Sandguss ready", by now?  ;D
