     I find Sodium Carbonate aka Washing Soda, Soda Ash, or Sal Soda is easy to find in the swimming pool section of you local home supply store. It is used to lower the acidity of swimming pool water. PH Plus from Spa-Kem is what I have. Or you could spend a large amount of time looking for Arm & Hammer Washing Soda. I have found it. But it took a lot of looking.

I just used trisodium phosphate (TSP) from the paint section. 

worked well.
