Am I in need of a new left front fork leg for 75 750F?
« on: April 13, 2008, 03:37:26 AM »
After a long delay finally, got to start tearing down my project bike today. I took off the fender, brake calipers and got to the wheel axle holder bolts. When I cranked to hard, and broke one of my left wheel axle holder bolts, the rear one on the left fork, I felt like an idiot. Is this fixable or am I out of luck and need a new one and would a K model 750 left front fork leg fit on the 75 750 F, I'm thinking that they are different. Can anyone give any advice? Thanks and I will try to post some more pictures of the teardown.

well as you seem to be at a bit of a loss, i`d say take it to a local garage and see one of the mechanics, they will probably get it out for a six pack...
you dont say how far down the bolt has snapped off but you could drill out the centre of the bolt and use an easy out to get it out, just make sure that you get the drill centered in the bolt and dont drill too far
cheers and good luck mate

Thanks for your advice, I broke the bolt off, roughly half the length. Sorry I didn't post a picture but I will. I am discouraged, being that I can't just go out and buy one right away, if I can find another one. Can I try to drill and tap and set a new slightly larger size bolt? Or am just hoping for a miracle.  :(

unless you have damaged the leg you should be able get the old bolt out and replace it withought having to butcher it

so some of the bolt is exposed?

I'm not sure as I haven't had to attack this problem yet but I believe you can just grab it with some locking pliars and twist it out.  Check a fiche on your favorite honda parts dealers website I like servicehonda  You can get that bolt.  So if you can get it out you should be ok.

if you can grab it, and get it to turn.

go about a 1/6 turn, then crank it back & forth , turn out a bit and repeat... it may save the thread..

good idea on all bolts in aluminum..
