Side cover question 750KO
« on: April 25, 2008, 08:52:33 PM »
I just got the candy apple red painted parts back for my KO.  The guy here in WI did a fantastic job.  I will do pictures when I get stuff reinstalled.  My question is do you guys use any petroleum jelly or grease on those side cover tabs to reduce the strain when removing?  I did reinforce the tabs with JB Weld before the paint, but just do not want to stress the plastic covers during future removal.  Thanks...

If you have not done so already, get BRAND NEW grommets for all the side cover mount tabs.  Makes a huge difference in retention and ease of removal.  I don't grease the tabs.

Me either. Be careful, you don't want them to come off TOO easily.

I did get the new grommets.  Maybe that will be all I need.  You are correct Bob, it would not be a good day if one of those blew off the bike.
