Hondaline 5 spoke wheels....dime a dozen?
« on: April 28, 2008, 09:13:51 PM »
I bought a pair of Hondaline wheels, solely for the nice dunlops on them.

I have no use for the wheels and would like to find someone who is looking for these type wheels.

I get the idea that they aren't particularly popular. What do they normally go for?

(I wouldn't want much, and they are clean)

My camera seems to take pics too large to attach here. Give me an email address and I'll send them to you.

The wheels sizes are

17" rear
19" front

There are two discs on the front wheel. They came off a 1981 CB750 Custom

if they came off a custom it should have only a single disc brake in front (lots of people converted to dual) and a 16" rear wheel with drum in back. K models have a 17" or 18" rear wheel. F's have an 18" rear wheel with a disc in the back.

The wheels are called comstars and they come in two looks:

comstar: all silver. The stamped steel center sections have the concave part facing inward (they look like they bubble out slightly)

Reverse comstar: Black with silver trim. The stamped steel center section has the concave part facing outward. They usually have honda written in white on them

If they are off a 1981 they are most likely reverse comstars.

From your description, these are reverse comstars, yet the front has 2 discs and the rear is definitely 17" and has a drum brake.

In 81 the 650 CUSTOM went to dual disks in front.  I would bet the 750 did too.  Would be interested to know if the 17" rear is stock. Only other bike I know of with the 17" reverse is the 79 650Z US models.  They interchange easily.

I have so many I cant shake the stick anymore.  When I have tried to sell them off nobody is interested.  Do only have one of the 17'' though.
