CB400F to RC172 conversion nearing final stages
« on: April 28, 2008, 06:42:15 PM »
Well, a sure sign of spring. Warm enough to go out and work in the garage lately. The RC172 project is getting closer and closer, should be ready for paint, etc very soon. Have to remake the lower front aluminum shield on the fairing, finish up the rearsets and linkages, a mount the electricals, which will be going up under the seat. A few other details and detailing.

The view from the "driver's seat":

A good bike mechanic only needs two tools, WD40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move, but should, use the WD40. If it does move but shouldn't use the duct tape.

Well, interesting so far Charlie, looks good. I take it we're going roadracing, or is there still a plan to streetlegalize?

Well, a this point its going to be track day, possibly some vinatge RR. However,in re-doing the wiring harness, I have left the head light/tail light wires if I change my mind and want to make it minimally streetlegal. As far as streetlegal, kind of wish I had gone with a bigger bike either a 550 or 750. At 6', 215lbs, this 400 is kind of a tight squeeze......but what the heck, would give me an excuse to build another one, a bigger one.
