Pays to shop around
« on: June 03, 2008, 04:20:06 AM »
A while ago I put up a post as I was thinking of trying Cheng Shin tyres, mainly because of the price ($85 cheaper than BT45s) - naturally this post ran to about 10 pages as everyone gave their opinion.
Two weeks ago a small bike repair shop opened around the corner from me.
Just for curiosity I dropped in & asked the young bloke running it how much a BT45 was.
He had a look at my twin disc front end & the ratbike in general & said "you pulling the wheel off?"
I said I'd bring the wheel around & the result is a new BT45 & tube for $20 more than the price for a Cheng Shin quoted by the bigger shops.
Ask questions & support the little man.

+1 Good deal! You are going to enjoy the BT-45s - of course its best to get a matching pair front/back  ;)

cheers
Andy

No dramas Andy, I've always run BT45s front & back (even on the FJ1200), but money was tight a few weeks ago & I've got another big ride with the blokes from work coming up.
I'm glad I held off on the CSs.

We had them on the missis' VTR250. Great tyres.
