Gasket material fell where it shouldn't
« on: June 05, 2008, 04:24:07 AM »
I diligently wrapped the 4 pistons and filled the gaps betwwen the block.
I dabbed gasket remover via brush not to remove paint, smoked a cig., to fight the fumes, scraped away another bit, repeat.

I was hard at work between #3 and #4 when I noticed #2 couldn't bear the heat and took off it's clothing.
I have no idea if or how much of the gasket crumbs fell into the block.
What to do now?
Vac and hope for the best?

At 500 miles drop the sump and clean the pump filter
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

If its a 750 the pump filter is on the return anyway as the oil feed is from the tank
