50mph @ 3K rpms~What's everybody's oil pressure reading?
« on: June 17, 2008, 12:42:24 PM »
Trying to see how far off I am to everyone else's, or atleast the standard pressure that it is supposed to read.

This is on a 750, at fully warm operating temperatures.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it supposed to be around 45psi?

I'm getting different ratings when I run a search, and the majority of the psi ratings I have found are for the 500cc.

Is there a difference?

And just to go ahead a throw it out there, I am getting 26psi, at 50mph at 3K rpms, I know that's way low, but I wanted to see how far I was off..

Thanks

Oil pressure will change quite a bit from cold to hot and is related to RPM, so forget the MPH.  On a hot motor I get around 20psi at idle and max around 65psi at/above 5000rpm. Have run one of my bikes reading 10/50psi without any troubles but would rev it at stoplights to keep the pressure up.

Haven't found much pressure difference using different weight oils. The heavier weights just seem to take longer to heat up and then they read the same as 10-40, at least on the bikes I've tried this on.

Different gauges can produce different readings so always keep the warning light in operating condition ;)
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Wow.. I'm limping by...

I was curious if I could gauge how much longer I have on this engine before it goes bye bye...

And by those variances; not to much longer.. :-[
