One man fork oil/ spring change
« on: June 23, 2008, 10:16:30 PM »
I like low bars. I don't like disassembling everything above the top clamp or waiting around for a friend that may or may not show up to hold the bars to gain access to the filler nuts. I made this contraption outta scrap bars and one rubber mounted clamp from a CB350 to get the master cylinder outta the way of my ratchet. I still had to move the bars on the bike toward the side not being filled, but it makes the job really quick. Just make sure you have all the tools you need waiting on the saddle, or grow orangutang arms.

Very creative, do you have any problems with the thing rotating on the mounting stud when you grab a handful of brake?

Naw, I've yet to take a test ride with the jig installed. Probably not gonna. I generally don't grab the brake when not in motion.
Wait, maybe you mean to pump the old oil out. I install this after the "grab brake, pump remaining fork oil way past drip pan and all over floor" portion of this task.

Ah, so this just holds things out of the way while you work, and then you remove it?  Again, very creative and good idea.

I knew my geriatric back & neck weren't the only reason I prefer high bars
