Bonjour!
« on: June 20, 2008, 09:45:49 AM »
Greetings from Paris!
I'm over here with my wife to present a paper at a conference. Lots of bikes and scooters, lots of Hondas, many I have never seen before. I've seen a few of our bikes here among the other marques and wish I had mine here...

This thread is useless without pics!  ;D

Hope you're having a great time over there.  Paris is on the list of places my wife and I would like to see someday.

Dude...you're an addict!!!

You're in Paris with the wife and you have to stop in to check on the forum?!?! I LOVE IT!!!

Glad, I am not the only one...when I was in Florida (granted it was Florida and not Paris) this winter for a couple of weeks I dropped by just to see if there was anything new or exciting.

an addict... perhaps. It doesn't help to have motorcycles and scooters rolling past below the window of our hotel room all day.

I've started a collection of bike pics that I'll post when I get home.

Sleeping under the seine bridges with a 'baguette' and half a bottle of cheap wine seems to be quite a tourist attraction these days.

Anyone recognize this bike?

Also, I was watching MotoGP yesterday and saw a bike running in the 250 race called a Gilara (sp?)

Where are these bikes from??

Looks like a CZ or Jawa, damn ugly mother...
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

It's a MZ ("Motorradwerke Zschopau") from former East Germany.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, though  :)

Cheers,

Is it true the streets of Paris are paved with dog turds?
Both my kids did Europe a few years back (different years) and one of their most disgusting memories was the amount of doggie dodo all over the pavement, seems being a good dog owner aint high on the French list of priorities.

There is a significant amount of... pet exhaust :P on the streets. most of the dog owners I've seen do curb and clean up after their dogs, but the amount on the sidewalks suggests that many, many dogs don't come out until nighttime...

On a different note, I've seen a few cr125's over here, as well as what looks like a hybrid dirt/road honda with very large tires.

I'm still not familiar with the riders in the different classes yet, but I'm fascinated by the speed and agility of the bikes and riders, especially in the last few laps... It has made me re-think my budget for tires...
