Dyan S / coils wiring
« on: June 29, 2008, 04:13:46 PM »
Confused about which terminals on the coil the Black/White(from harness) and Yellow or Blue (from Dyna S ignition) goto.  Do they all go to the same terminal or seperate ones?  Does it matter which terminal which one goes to? Tried B/W and Blue on one coil and B/W and Yellow on the other coil bothed on terminal #1.  Blew the main (15amp) fuse.

I just installed one of these yesterday, so I have the instructions fresh in my head.  the yellow on should be on the bottom left (as sitting on the bike) and the blue should be on the bottom right.  the black and white should go to the top of each.  The left coil should power the middle 2 and the right should go to the 2 on the ends.

If your bike runs then I guess it doesn't matter which terminal hooks to power and which hooks to ignition. I have the black/white in the bottom(terminal#2) and colored wires on top(terminal #1) with the plug wire leads pointing down and forward.

If I recall, those Dyna coil instructions are a bit different because they hook a black/white 12v line to one coil only and then "piggyback" the power to the other coil via a red jump wire, or something like that(it's been a while :P).

Anyway you splice it you just need power(black/white) in terminal #2, and blue or yellow in terminal #1 using the picture above for reference.

Separate terminals :)
Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Thanks,
Separating the Yellow/Blue from the Black/White is correct and it doesn't matter if it's terminal 1 or 2.  Found that my Dyna S is bad. Put my old Dyna III on using the above separation and it works again.
Hot damn!  Get to try out my new tires/handlebars and Kerker later this week.
