'78 750f throttle return spring and the 'push' cable
« on: June 29, 2008, 07:51:35 PM »
I've noticed that the return spring is very strong.  this means that the 'pull' cable gets a lot of return action.  Frankly I can't see any need for a 'push' cable and I've been thinking of eliminating it.  Is there any 'really' good reason for leaving it.  The one I have is the original (new pull cable though) and has some resistance in the old case (rust I suppose).

The only thing I can think of is if the spring broke (not likely), you could still push via the cable.

i backed off on the throttle return spring about 1/2 wrap or so (one end is now hooked over the rear bar that connects the carbs).  throttle action is much easier, but the push cable is needed.  almost feels like the throttle on a FI bike.  this, i think, is frowned upon by some but i'm old.  i do what i want.
