are 98 jets press or screw in?
« on: July 08, 2008, 11:08:59 AM »
I need to downjet my 76 550k from the stock 100s and would like to try 98s from an F bike-  would they fit my stock carbs  (I think 087A) carbs which have press in main jets? I don't know if some were screw in.    Thanks, Pat

Yes, they will fit.  Recommend new orings, though.

They will no longer be 087A carbs, of course.

Here is a related question (sorry for the hijack)
I opened up my 75 CB550K1 to find that the jets did not have the associated O-rings. Now that I have them, which direction do the jets face? I'm assuming that the tapered end goes towards the needle, but i wanted to make sure.

You should be able to read the jet number stampings with them installed.
