neutral light quandary
« on: July 08, 2008, 09:10:54 PM »
I just plugged a new motor into a K5 roller this week. Everything works well save for a neutral light of perpetual glimmer. The wire has a good connection but I cant figure out why its stays on. Any ideas?

I had the same issue on my F1. Tuned out that a replacement o-ring was too thick and didn't let the switch go far enough into the crank case. A smaller o-ring fixed the issue.

+1 on that. I replaced all orings and seals this past winter and came up with the same problem. I did a little searching here and then put my 37 year old OE oring back on the neutral light switch and its good as can be. The part is spec'd at 18 x 3mm, but the oring supplied by Honda was just a little too fat to let the NLS seat all the way into the case.

Hmm. All I did was reconnect the ground lead. I used the same O-ring as before.
Ill take a closer look at it.
thanks

Johnny, I had the same problem with mine.  I pushed on it while moving the shifter lever up and down, and it finally seated.
