200 mph Club..
« on: July 10, 2008, 07:56:41 PM »
My former neighbor dropped by,
to ask if maybe I can go to Bonneville..

He isgoing and is bound and determined to make it into the 200 club.. :o

His bike; a 2005 ish  ZX10.

It has a power commander, I think swingarm extensions, and nitrous.. It was a salvage bike so the bodywork is replacement, not OEM.

Personally I think he has a pretty good chance,, he did run the bike with stock swingarm, no power commader, and no nitrous.. and it went pretty good.

Do you think this 1 liter bike with stock internals can pull it off??

Yes, there supose to be pretty fast stock and if he's running nitrous and the winds don't mess him up he should make it. I know 120 plus is fast, I can't imagine what 200 would be like.  8)

I think so if the gearing Math and his manhood holds up. I have heard the salt saps alot of horse power and is tricky to ride on.

I have a 89-90 zx 10 with carb, cam, timing and exhaust mods, I think it would run out of gear before it run out of horsepower. We have confimed 160 in the mearured mile on concrete @ about 9500 rpm. Your friends newer bike will rev higher, my rev limiter kicks in about 11,500 rpm.

Yes he was on the rev limiter going through the timed section, and he got up to speed early.

Salt was very bad last tear, really hurt the bigger sportbikes, this year same bikes will (should) get faster times

I'm not sure it will do 200. But it will be a lot of fun trying.

I suggest you go with him.

Let's see...

I can sit at home, typing at a keyboard, or mowing the lawn, or any one of many chores around the house.

Or,

I can go to Bonneville and see people, true speed freaks, attempt to attain speeds with vehicles that compared to their street brethren, seem like light speed.  A front row seat, too.

Tough decision.
Go metric, every inch of the way!
