Juuust throwin' it out there...
« on: July 11, 2008, 08:47:16 PM »
...but after reading the post about Harley buying MV a thought popped into by huge brain. Don't ask me why.

I'm not the activist type (although I do enjoy complaining) but what if someone (not me!) started a petition to convince the big Japanese companies to send us, the cruiser/sport bike weary consumers in the US, some of those cool standards they sell in their home market and elsewhere? Even some of the sport bikes they make we don't get. That's just not fair. Really now, there are some very cool rides as many of you know, and it'll be hard to convince me that if they put their minds to it they still couldn't market them here.

Subaru was sooo sure the turbocharged Imprezza would not sell here after a solid ten years of production in the UK, Europe and Japan. Boy were they wrong, now everything it seems they sell has a turbo strapped to it. Marketing types know squat!

Maybe the Bike periodicals have tried this or might want in on the idea. If there's a movement already just point me there and I'll do whatever this man of horrible organization skills can do to help. Viva La Revolution!

Harley+MV... Maybe the Hog guys like meatballs with their draft beer.

I am suspecting that every model has to go thru compliance testing at the cost of several  hundred thousand per model.. to gain DOT approval..

And the powers that be (sometimes mistakenly) think there will not be enough sales to justify the cost..

My local Honda shop said that Japan can't ship any more bikes that have carbs.  They all have to have fuel injectors.  Maybe that's why we can't get the 750.  Or maybe he doesn't know what he's talking about.

You can blame californias laws for that one hope...More then likely its an emissions issue..However...given Canada is more lenient on that side of things it does open up the possability of us cannucks getting some of those sweet JDM bikes...
