What's the cost to hire a small car for a week in the southern States, something that will return good gas milage?

 :D :D :D :D :D :D :D  in the UK we have 2 options Dan, you can pay a lower hire charge then pay so much for the miles you cover, or pay a higher premium with unlimited milage. With the second option you could go to Mars and back and not pay any more Dan. :D :D :D :D

Well guys, it's getting nearer to my trip and allthough I can't make any hard and fast decisions yet (still waiting on my passport) I need to have some ideas on what it's going to cost me.
The car hire has turned into a small van as I will have to transport a CBR600 to a drag strip in NC for my first race on US soil.
What will it cost me per week and is diesel cheaper than petrol/gas ? Do I hire the vehicle on a weekly basis or is there any milage charges ?
I am hoping to fly into Virginia around the 10th to 13th October, pic up a van and be in NC on the 18th Oct.
I'll be traveling through NC/SC AL and into southern MS meeting up with forum members for a few beers on route ::) ::) ::) ::)
I'll be staying in MS for a few weeks with relatives before making my way to Valdosta for the Finals and then home.
Let me have your thoughts guys.

I giving Dusterdudes CBR600 an outing at Piedmont in NC on the 18th Oct if I can get things sorted in time, the passport people are dragging their feet.
I can't book the flight till I have my passport renewed.

I'm in the Blue Ridge Mountains Sam, just south of Roanoke Va.
Oh, Your drag strip is about 2 hours from my place so if you want some
mountain riding too, I'll make your day. I might even be able to find you
