i build a model every few weeks, a local hobby shop went out of business a few years ago and i bought around 100 car and truck models. i spend 15-20 hours doing each one, with anal retentive detail on each one. several car dealers in town have models i've done, i've donated finished models to a local fundraiser for hospice for sale at events also. it may be time for me to build a bikemodel now. wish the cr-750 kits werent 179 dollars now.

I don't know if your into CB750F's but this is a super deal! ($25 shipped)

and here's the K model it's a amazing looking kit but pricier at $80

just ordered it. the f bike.

Nice!! Should be a good mix up to car model building, doesn't hurt that it's a sweet CB as well. BTW I'd love to see some pics when it's done.

Have fun.  8)

Um..Guys..

The writing/script on the box..and in the pics is Japanese.  There are 3 forms of writing/script used in Japanese.  The one that maybe looks like Chinese..is called Kanji..and originally came from Chinese..but has been adapted to Japanese for about the past 1500 years.

Actually some of the Kanji characters are similar to the original Chinese (and Japanese and Chinese can communicate some using these characters)..but the spoken languages are completely different nowadays.

My guess about the apparent "fastidiousness" of the model build..is that it is being done by a Japanese builder. They are just crazy about detailed stuff (as most probably know)..including all sorts of models.

Personally I find it kinda neat (all the fastidiousness of the Japanese that is)..and kinda intimidating @ times too.  But being retired from dentistry..and having built a fair share of models myself in years past..I can relate strongly.  Guess being married to a native Japanese for the past 15 years has also increased my appreciation.

Neat stuff..eh?

Well, I tried Japanese to English first in Babelfish, that gave me unintelligible text.  Selecting Chinese-Simp actually generated something readable.  Don't know why that is.

You'll have to trust me guys..but IT IS Japanese writing (in it's 3-forms as mentioned before) that is written on the box, et al.

I can understand the apparent frustration in not being able to figure it out (as with myself @ times)..but I ran it past my Japanese/English translator wife..and she confirmed it.

Mystic..I don't know why your Babelfish is supposedly telling you that it may be Chinese..must have something to do with the Kanji (read: Chinese derived) script/figures used.

But anyway..as I was trying to say originally..don't you think the Japanese love for detail and "fastidiousness" has something neat to offer? [Afterall..we're all into the engineering and asthetic sensibilities of the Japanese with our love of these old SOHC 4 bikes..right?]

Didn't realize it was coming from China, oh well should be there soon enough. BTW should be a good quality kit I think it's the same brand seen in the build posted by the OP. Don't forget to share pics when you finish.

Oh, certainly.  I spent a long time just staring at his pictures, and reflecting on how much LONGER he spent staring at those parts.  I've known a couple of model builders in my time who approached that level of quality in their work and I always had great respect for those people.  I'm a fan of Macross from way back, and I've seen some truly impressive detail on models, but this guy certainly took it over the top!

i build a couple of model airplanes, the once with a small nitro engine on it...
they take around 80 hours to build.....
but i couldnt build those bikes like he did, thats awesome, even the chain has to be assembled..!!!
i would go nuts after the second chain link....
I tried to build a model airplane about 30 years ago...Ended up throwing away the model,...... just kept the glue  ;D  ;D  ;D
