I'm goin' riding this weekend...
« on: September 09, 2005, 03:33:44 AM »
Well, we're off on the Shadow for the weekend.

The Mustang seat came this week, the saddle bags are on and my girls are ready for a trip to the coast.
That's both of my girls - the missus is coming too.

Leaving in the morning and the weather looks great.
He He He - can't wait.

The K1 will have to wait yet another week for me to start on her...
make that 2 weeks.
The classic road racing is on next weekend.

This month just gets better and better

Well,
we did about 500 km plus on the weekend.
Took us 5 hrs to get to the Coast (200 km) with a few stops and having to dodge 1600 cyclists riding the
"spinifex to surf" run and a look at some m/cycle shops...

Only got into trouble once on the way.
I nearly rear ended a trailer in front while watching too many rear ends of cyclists - close, very close.
I did get a whack from the girl though.

The missus got a new visor for her Arai - Chrome - she loves it.

Mustang seat saved my arse... no joke, we arrived feeling like we just rode around the block.
I reckon i could do 10 hours and still feel good

Sat. night was spent in the Kurawa surf club chatting with some locals.
I discovered "Bulleit" bourbon - Man, what a kick - my new favourite

The trip home was just as good and we hit heavy rain about 1/2 an hour from home
No sore butts here and my Girl said she had the best weekend away - Ever - Go the bike!!

All 'round a great weekend away

You're a lucky bugger Brooksey, I'd much rather be riding today than working, but I'd been promising to do a couple of chores around the yard before I disappear on an army exercise for the next couple of weeks, so it was all work and no play today, but the weather was overcast with showers anyway, so no biggie, sob! Cheers, Terry. :'(
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thank God for Bikes and Bourbon

I think I'll make that my motto Brooksey, the bikers prayer? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Ah, ain't life great.
I'm at work now (11.30 pm) & have a 120k ride home tomorrow morning.
Leave at 6 am, half an hour of city traffic & then I'll be the only vehicle on the "old road" for the next hour.
Stop for a bacon & egg sanger at Hawkesbury River & watch the sun come up over a hot coffee & a smoke.
Then into the bendies again.

Dave,
Who's the lucky bugger now?
What is it about riding at sunrise? Gottaluvit!

People who don't ride, don't know what they're missing.
We'll ride "The Old Road" one day... then Tassie...
So many rides, so few spare $$$

Terry,
I might get it Tattoo'd somewhere...
I'd had a can of "Bulleit" Bourbon when i wrote it... inspirational maybe?
man, that stuff rocks.

Hey Don, it's Bourbon and Cola in a can, not straight Bourbon. I know some think it sacrelige to mix Bourbon with anything, but if you want a bit more of a kick in your Cola, I find it very pleasant. (until my face falls off........) Cheers, Terry. ;D

Sorry guys, I should have been clearer...
Yep, Bourbon and Cola, or Bourbon and Dry - it's all good.

A couple of reasons for buying it that way - (cans)

If you're away on the bike (with pillion) it's hard to find room for bottles - esp. when one drinks rum (arrrgh) and one drinks the good stuff.
Trying new brands - you can try a couple and decide if you like it or not
Variety - throw in a can or 2 of Scotch sometimes.

I'm not into drinking it straight - although, new years eve........ that's another story altogether

Jesus you cheap bastards, buy a flask  ;D

Although I'm sure another of you cheap SOB's will post and describe how you made one out of an inner tube and the spare oil line from a cl350 for like .23 cents.  :D

Wise up you all.

1.) Buy a Coke.
2.) Sip coke thoughtfully for about 6 seconds.
3.) Be inconspicuous as you pour from Flask to can.

I don't know about Auzzieland or other places, but here in the good ol' USA theres some sort of convienence store or small grocery about every 1 or 2 miles.

If ya buy a Coke (.75 you cheapo's) it will be cold and you don't have to carry it around.

And on the Plus side? No officer, I was just drinkin my soft drink, minding my own business.  ;D

I think Terry's flask is actually made form pvc tube with screw on end caps

How do you sip Coke thoughtfully?
That like sucking nipples thoughfully?

I'm working on a spun alloy flask that will fit inside the filler neck of a CB750 tank. I figure you could fill it up with your favourite mix, and the gas in the tank would keep it cool? If the cops pulled you over you could tell them that the clear plastic hose is a breather for the tank, although it might be harder to explain why you were riding with it in your mouth? Hmmnn, back to the drawing board............. Cheers, Terry. ;D

You could tell them that these old bikes don`t have fuel pumps so you have to pressurize the tank every once in a while ;D

I had a mate who always carried a 1/2 bottle wrapped in rag under the seat of his GS750
He got knocked off by a car one day and the bottle broke

A sorry sight...
crying and trying to lick up the rum before it abosrbed into the bitumen

just kidding,
he wasn't crying
