emgo air filters....any good?
« on: August 22, 2008, 12:00:00 PM »
Called the dealer for a filter for my 73 750k and they wanted $38.00, z1 has what I'm assuming is an emgo part from its part number (em12-90400) for only $9.83, are these worth buying? Is there a cheaper source for oem? Thanks.

I used one. Used is the word. It ended up being too restrictive and I was constantly running rich no matter what I tried. When you run rich and have 110 mains, not enough air flow. My filter also constantly smelled like gas. Took filter out And bike ran awesome

So I ditched the emgo and since the honda filter was so expensive, I spent about 20 more and got the k&n and the recharge kit for it.

I will say the emgo is constructed very well though. It is not cheaply build.

I have liked mine. For the price you really cant beat them, you will most likely get better performance with the box. They are not easy, but not hard to knock off and lose...

+1 on the K&N stock replacement filter. Mine was about $40, but the last one I will ever need to buy. A consideration I gave it because I'm not sure how much longer disposable filters will be available.

So the k&n is more free-flowing correct?
