arse padding
« on: September 03, 2008, 07:52:22 AM »
padded shorts... what do you recommend.

i've looked at so many different kinds that i don't think they actually make what i want...  LAME!

ok, so my hips and tail bone will be protected... how about my damn butt bones?!  it looks like every pair i see leaves the area between the tail and hips un-padded... which is where i need it most, considering there is little to no padding on the seat either.

do i need a different set of keywords like "sit on my ass all day shorts"?   ???

OR

how about a gel pad or something that goes on a seat?... would have to have a temporary stickum to stay on there though.

Do you get "cafe butt", Hef?  ;D ;D

I always wondered if those cafe seats were as uncomfortable as they looked.

Perhaps "memory foam" might help?

You could always do up a padded seat cover, with high density foam and an elastic type cover with hooks to hook over the edge of the seat.

I've heard of guys w/ hard tail choppers cutting a pair of dr. scholls foot pads in half and sticking one in each jean pocket prior to rides...

go check out some bike shorts, bicycle shorts that is. You could wear them under your leathers.

go to a tack shop (saddlery) and get a saddle gel pad. use that for seat padding, it's what i did when i had the cafe seat on mine and it works like a charm

i think i'll go by "murdoch's" on my way to work this morning and see what i can find... i'm really looking for something for the long hauls and i'm not so concerned if it is something that just rides on top of the seat then can be removed afterward.

gotta do something about this

Heffster, the link in your sig for the photo album isn't working, but as I recall, your cafe has the open area under the seat where the electrics and oil tank normally go. Could you get some sheepskin and use an elastic strap(s) to hold it in place (run the strap under the frame rail)? I just got my sheepskin from Alaska leather, and they have lots of sizes. I ordered mine on the recommendation for sheepskin in a few other threads.

thanks for every last suggestion guys!

but, this one goes out to the fuzzmeister... leave it to the guy w/ a synonym to arse in his name to come up w/ a great solution.   ;D

fuzz... you're a genius!  check out how the shape mimics the shape of the seat!   :) :) :)

there is a loop in the front to loop thru the rear of the tank securing rubber and another strap to go underneath the seat... its like it was made for it.   :)  better be for 40 some bucks!   8)
