Hi from Ontario, Canada
« on: September 08, 2008, 07:38:26 AM »
Hi, I am excited to be a member of this forum as I have just purchased two 1978 CB550s and will be attempting to make a cafe racer style bike out of all the parts. Many, many years ago I built a Triton using a Norton featherbed frame and a 500cc Triumph engine. Now the urge to have a retro style bike has me looking at a garage full of CB550 parts. A nice winter project !

Hi guys,

I live just north of Wellington, which is in Prince Edward County, south of Belleville. I guess our biggest claim to fame in this area is the Sandbanks Provincial Park, which is about 30 mins. from our house.

Forget Sandbanks! That is on West lake...the real action is on East Lake...atleast that is where my parents' cottage is! Lovely Cherry Valley...wish I could spend more time there but summer is my busiest pariod with the kids and 2 jobs and all.

Actually I got married around the corner from you at Isaah Tubbs resort. Spent the majority of my youth there...

Well that worked! And I didn't have to ask my son (the computer wiz ) how to send it. So here is a pic of my Triton that I built back in '67. Taken with some old camera I probably borrowed, I scanned the photo a few months ago.

I'll add my welcome too zoeyk9, you're in some orchard country.

Let me also mention that you did a nice job on the Triton. 1967 was also the first Canadian Grand Prix at Mosport.....any roadrace experience.

Not official, just the back roads in the UK with me and my mates. Jeez, when I think back to those days, crash helmets were optional, brakes were minimal, lights were downright scary, I guess I,m lucky to still be on the sunny side of the grass. I lost a couple of mates back then and ended up in hospital a couple of times myself, nothing a few stitches couldn't fix. I started to wear a helmet after that.

But didn't slow down, I wore the sides off my Avon tires and the ends off the foot pegs, that bike handled real well.

Started on this thread and started to laugh at the "County" references

My parents live in Milford, further down toward Point Petre, and my brother lives in Picton. We're from Toronto originally but I spent much of my teenage years in Prince Edward County. I actually worked at the Sandbanks for 2 summers and played a lot of hockey in Wellington..... small world

Thanks

There is a guy just north of Fredericton (about 40 minutes) his name is Barry Blaney, he is a dealer in vintage japanese parts.  He has a whole wack of stuff. I purchased my 750 K3 from him. He is very honest and straight forward to deal with. This is his email.

bblaney@nbnet.nb.ca

He has a day job so you may not get a reply till the evening. If you email him he will give you his number and address. Last time I was out to him he had a few old SOHC's in the barn.

Good Luck
