IMO let the dummies go under. They are so greedy that they loaned money to anyone knowing full well that most would never be able to pay it back then cry for help. ??? That and people are buying things that they want but don't need. I guess people never heard of starter homes and work your way up. Makes me cringe when I hear/read about that kind of crap!!!  >:( >:(

You know that in a couple months or maybe a year or two there will be a small report on the 5th page of some small newspaper about the HUGH golden parachutes and bonuses the top executives of Freddie Mae and Fannie Mac got during this public by-out to ensure economic integrity!!!

Damn I hate big business and politics together.

I used to get into these threads to give my 2 cents, because there is always a lot of interesting opinions to be read. But after past experiences, I have noticed that if I point out negative sides of the American Way of Life, you seem to get together against the foreigners, so I prefer to sit down and watch you critizice yourselves. It is much more fun......  ;D ;D ;D ;D

FWIW, those things happens over here too. Here the problem is not with the loan companies, but with the building companies, that bought all the land they could thinking they would sell anything they build, and now that demand has plummeted, they have lots of land and no cash to pay the mortgages. The government came with the "idea" to buy the land from the private companies to save them. WTF!!!!! To hell with them, they were selling houses at 300% profit and they didn't share the profits with anybody.

Thanks Sam for the reminder. :-\

If the end does come I hope it's quick; but while y'all are talking political those damn big brains in their fancy white coats are in such a rush to get their names in the history books (and yeah, more grant money from us tax payers) they could hardly give a rat's behind about unintended consequences.

I read some in the UK are a bit PO'd about how much energy this pointless experiment draws while the people are reminded to conserve energy... and to be more green, decrease their (our) "carbon footprint", etc... by finger waving Big Brother. So what, all it proves is that some geek who got beat up daily in grade school can play God. How about feeding the poor with that money or investing in alternative energy and such?

Hey Billy, if it wasn't for all them scientist and inventers, we'd all be riding horses and living in caves :D :D :D :D

Just found something out tonight, the Ford model T was built just down the road from where I am, in Trafford Park, Manchester.
Just a bit of useless information ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I thought it was just an American car. ::)

Inventors yes, and scientists (leggy brunettes with blue eyes behind those glasses, hour glass figure, a clip board, and not much else under the lab coat) are OK in my book too. But it's this culture of 'progress' at the expense of everything else that troubles me. Books like Frankenstein touch on Man's arrogance and indifference to lessons of past mistakes.

No, sorry mystic,

I was thinking this: "It has become appallingly clear that our technology has surpassed our humanity."
- Albert Einstein

I found it elsewhere; I suppose if I was a responsible poster I'd fact check to make sure it was indeed Mr. E who had said that. I would think that if the quote is legit it may have been in reference to the bomb... not to be confused with 'da bomb'... yo. I have always liked your Lincoln quote BTW!

God, we gotta lighten this thread up!!! Where's Benny Hill, that wacky music, and those girls in garters chasing after him?!

If you study it, the purpose of the experiment is to better understand the fundamental nature of matter.

As Einstein so eloquently taught us, E=MC^2, or more simply, energy and mass are the same thing. Just one, matter, is 900,000,000,000 denser then the other.

Who knows, they might learn how to build 67 hp in a package the size of the average motorcycle axle and we could have two  wheel drive screamers with a CG below the center line of the wheels.  but maybe someone will invent such a thing in his Honda repair shop.

Back to figuring out why my Ceramic paint is giving me fish eyes on the bottom of my front sprocket cover.

All this talk about a poor economic indicators and the march towards Dooms Day orchestrated by hapless eggheads warrants this:

People, on a computer, based on "egghead" developed technology whining about hapless eggheads...amazing

Perhaps you are unaware of how dependent you are on technology to maintain your standard of living?

Perhaps a stint of running to the outhouse in a northern Vermont cabin would help you appreciate the electrified, microprocessor based, software eased lifestyle you(we all) enjoy.

Just the view from someone who knows that a Large Hadron Collider is not his old girlfriend!

corrected Freudian slip...

She has the answer:

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

I scooped out the water, took my toilet apart piece by piece and still couldn't find the microprocessor... must have been built back in the dark ages.

Just yankin' yer chain (pardon the pun) I don't have a problem with technology it's just the pursuit of so called progress to the exclusion of ethical or moral questions. But when the computers take over don't say I didn't tell you so!!  :D
