CB 400 carbs on a 750?
« on: September 28, 2008, 03:49:26 PM »
Is it possible to mount CB 400 carbs, into a 750 rack and mount them up to a 750F? Been fighting these carbs, and finally id the carb bodies since nothing works. They are stamped 054A  on all 4. The chart on here gives it as a casting for a 400. Is that possible?
I have other racks of carbs that I can change to, but what are the odds?

Are you saying a PO put 400 carbs into a 750 rack?
Or you are trying to?

The previous PO had the set on the bike. Stupid me didnt check casting numbers before I spent countless hours adjusting the 400 casting to run on a 750. Got her to idle, but was really stumbling reving out. I will never ever ever again touch any carb without looking at casting numbers. On the plus side I now have no fear of these old carbs, since I have re cleaned and re adjusted them so many times. After my last un successful attempt I found a set PD 41 that I cleaned, sysnched and now run great on the same bike. I think I learned my lession.
