Topic: Fuel Tap Pipe Length

Every now and then i get flashbacks of me pushing my K2 2kms to this petrol station after realizing that my reserve tap was not working.

Better yet the reserve tap was working, i just didn't have the pipe that makes the difference between ON and Reserve. So when i switched to reserve, nothing happened, i've already used that fuel up. Well i guess that's how you learn. Ever since i've been using milage as a means of measuring when it's time to put some more petrol in the tank and hadn't used the reserve tap at all.

Well, i still don't have the pipe that extends into the petrol tank but i have decided to fix that now, so instead of buying a new tap i thought why don't i use my own length of pipe and have as long a reserve as i want. Not sure if this is a good thing but i just thought i'd ask, what is the actual length and inner and outer diameter of the pipe?

My standpipe was missing also(where the hell could it go) and I replaced it with a length of brass tubing but I've forgotten length and O.D.If no one here knows, Icould pull it apart tomorrow and find out.
Mine's a 550, though.

Do not know if this helps you much, the standpipe of my spare is 3.5 inch long, now if only I knew what bike this was from (maybe (CB 400,500 or 650)  But might be good as a first approximation.

On a spare petcock I have for a K0 750, the standpipe has 2-5/8 inches protruding from the petcock base if this helps.

Sorry, forgot the other part of your question, the outside diameter of the brass pipe is 6mm. It's thin walled, the thickness of the wall is less then 1mm.
