the new rear wheel i picked up came apart very easily compared to the first one that was all buggered up. everything went out for powdercoat yesterday. new spokes/nipples arrived and theyll look pretty good once installed

That is some tiny sprocket on there! Which rear wheel did you en d up using? Did you find that one in the field?

we ended up not even looking for the wheel in the field because my gf was #$%*ing up a storm after the long drive. i was talking to one of my buddies about my wheel situation and it just happened that his friend had a honda hub laced to a drop center harley rim so he basically gave it to me and i used the hub from that wheel along with my factory rim. and yea, the sprocket is little! (38t)

the switches i used were (1)spst; (1) spdt; (1)triple pole triple throw. the spst is 'self returning' and is the horn switch (as soon as you let go of the toggle, it returns to the off position). the spdt is for the high/low beam. the tptt is for the blinkers (right position is right blinker, left position is left blinker, and center position is off).

they arent meant to be exposed to the atmosphere so ive also got little waterproof rubber covers that slide over the toggle and screw onto the threads (kindal like a toggle condom? haha). they have a max current capability of aroudn 1.5A which doesnt worry me since they arent switching loads..just relays.

i got the switches from my dad who is an electrical engineer for black & decker..cost? your guess is as good as mine!

im taking the wheels out to get trued up sometime this week. i wanted to do it saturday but my friends and i were butchering our hogs all weekend so ive been too beat to mess with it. hopefully she'll be ready for her maiden voyage soon!

just got the wheels back from mounting/balancing/trueing...it sure is nice being able to completely refinish a set of wheels and add new tires for less than just a set of mediocre rims for my bmw

Next time you have to remove bearing retainers that have been center punched, just take your hand drill and whatever size bit is close to the centerpunch. Drill it out a little, then spin them on out. If you don't do that you are GUARANTEED to gunch the threads. And you can thank the boys at Honda for doing that for you when the bike was built

the center punches on the first wheel looked alot bigger than the second wheel i had..thats why i assumed it was previously rebuilt. i drilled the punches out and the second wheel came apart easy unlike the first

took the bike for its first run today and it was a blast! ive got some little issues i need to take care of..the front brakes stick, idle is a bit lean which is causing some problems, and i need to finish the seats but other than that it runs pretty well. i was surprised with how fast she moves..

Nice to hear you took it for a spin. I rode one of my 750s for 600 miles with only the stock steel seat pan a a black Walmart dish town covering it. It wasn't that bad was I was 20, but 15 years later I'm not sure I would recommend it today.

yea, we missed it unfortunately. i think we may plan another one for may though!

i just guessed as far as jetting goes and it appears to be pretty close as the bike runs good throughout the entire rev range...its a little lean at idle so i need to adjust the air screws. also, the front brake is dragging and making some awful noise. i need to stiffen the rear shocks, and fix the damn leaky petcock.

sounds about like what i did all day yesterday! its suprisingly comfortable with no seat haha

With the gearing you are running, I would not get too concerned with a "performance exhaust." Personally, I think the pipes you have fit the bike well. If you need to make them quiet, build 4 baffles and insert them into each pipe.

Kinda like this so they still look the way they are.

yea, i agree. if i build something, itll be short and small and barely noticeable. i picked up some 1.5" perferated stainless for cores incase i wanna build something...but i had the bike out for a ride again today and after talking to a few of the neighbors, they said it isnt really that loud so i think im in the clear as far as no mufflers goes.

i bought a petcock rebuild kit from ebay and after installing it today, the petcock finally works like a champ and doesnt piss gas everywhere! i finally dialed in the idle mixture and everything seems to be running absolutely great! im very happy considering i just guessed with the jetting and the whole powerband seems spot on! i only bench synched the carbs for now but she runs nice and smooth. ill fine tune with a manometer eventually.

i think ill throw insurance, tags, and registration on it tomorrow!

thanks! i really dont think i could be much happier with how it looks and rides. you know you have a good lookin bike when all the neighbors come out on their porches to watch you ride up and down the street

so it might be time to change the gearing a little...3rd gear at 4000rpm is somewhere between 55-70mph. unfortunately my speedo cable broke so i wasnt sure exactly how fast it was going, but it was much faster than i wanted to be going in 3rd gear! the clutch has been slipping a bit on hard 2nd gear pulls also.
