Clear coat in a can? Seriously?
« on: October 07, 2008, 10:43:14 AM »
I just saw this stuff and was curious if it's any good? Says it has excellent chemical resistance but I have my doubts. Was wondering if anyone has tried it and how it's held up.

A bunch of people on the forum swear by it...I might try it for some small brackets or stuff, but when I have a gun and professional grade clear coat i'm not going to bother with that stuff for anything I really care about. For someone without all the paint equipment I can see the merit though...plus the lack of cleanup must be nice. Not sure about it's resistance to chemicals but i'm sure someone else can answer that. It must be a step above regular aerosol clear since it does have an activator involved...two part clears are always gonna hold up better.

On the flip side, you can get an entire quart of clear coat with hardener and a disposable siphon aerosol sprayer from NAPA for 35 bucks for everything....you get a lot more clear coat for that money you just have to do the ratio (4:1) yourself.
