2- Stiff Little Fingers - Inflamable Material
3- SSDecontrol - the kids will have their say
4- Totalitär - Sin Egen Motstandare
5- G.I.S.M. - DETESTation

and of course the ramones, the clash, etc.

I just got back from San Jose(California) a couple of hours ago. Picked up a free 1986 Suzuki Cavalcade that needs work (looks like a Goldwing but bigger!!!).Went to a place called Streetlight records. They have the store in San Jose, one in Santa Cruz and 2 in San Francisco. Heres what I got there today plus some CD burns from what my friend got. Albums (we already burned CDs of them). 1. Elvin Bishop-Crabshaw Rising 2. Elvin Bishop-live Raising Hell 3. Cold Blood-First Taste of Sin 4.Black Oak Arkansas-Live Mutha.........CDs 1.Frank Zappa(double disc) The Best Band You Never Heard of in Your Life.2.Talking Heads-Little Creatures,3.Heart-Bebe La Strange,4.John Mayall-Spinning Coin..................Plus got at least 20 other CDs that we burned off of my albums and casettes.
All in all..............had a good music and motorcycle weekend!!!!!

A song you guys/gals might want to check out-

Frank Zappa- Watermelon in Easter Hay, from Joe's Garage.

Zappa is mostly pretentious crap IMO, but Ol' Frank really runs the Geetar in this one-

What cemented it for me on Frank, was when I was in Army, and we would get parcels of CD's/tapes that wouldn't sell, and the labels would donate them to deployed soldiers.

Anyway, I find a CD..."The Yellow Shark" by Zappa, and it stunk to high heaven IMO, it was a jumbled mess recorded in Germany, and the instrumentals were done by some screw-ball pretentious Euro-Germ outfit. Once bitten, twice shy here.

Edit to add- I am sticking to this one! Just played some tracks......a totally dated, politically bent mess. Frank was best with more classic Rock'n'Roll instruments and musicians. He tried to make something powerful with the "Yellow Shark" but the sounds fall flat IMO. He over did it, the greats like Mozart and Bach etc. were masters of getting the point across with splendid blending and complementation of the various instruments, Frank's attempt was a jumble because he was out of his depth on that album IMO. He was great at certain things, no question, but the orchestral bit was not his strong suit. Too bad it was his last, and he didn't redeem himself in my eyes.

It's a crying shame that your first exposure was to perhaps what indeed may be the "worst" Frank Zappa album.
Frank had little to do with it. Really I think the only reason it was released was to capitalize on his impending death.
Imho, I consider it more of a "tribute" album with the Ensemble Modern interpreting Zappa compositions.
Go back and listen to Zappa in New York, Joe's Garage, Roxy and Elsewhere, or the Baby Snakes soundtrack.

It wasn't my first exposure, I had listened to the Mothers etc. for maybe 5-6 years prior-

i was lucky enough to see FZ at the Bushnell Auditorium during his final tour in either late 87 or 88, cant remember which. an amazing show and one of his stage props was a blow up "party doll" with a pat robertson mask on it.

Fuzzy,
I like that you make daily or weekly top 5's as otherwise it's just too tough.
I really like a couple of your picks including 12X5 and the first Band record. I also like Westondc's idea of dividing stuff by era. Perhaps I'd choose the Band record this week as well along with the Glyn Johns production of Let it Be because listening with almost no production at all, it's easy to tell that the Beatles were an extraordinary group. I'd also go for the Allmans Live at the Filmore, and keeping to the same 5 year spread Blind Faith, and Zappa's Hot Rats.
