You name a major oil company that doesn't use one of our products, and I would be surprised.

No pics of me though.

Nice choice, you should be pretty happy with that one.  I have a smaller benchtop Sears drill press, never had any issues with it.

Boy, you all are making me feel like a "junkyard dog" with all this talk. Am I the only one with a floor model drill press from and Ace Hardware Store and a bench model from "Big Lots"? I DO have a Drill Doctor, even though I bought some drill bits from Harbor Freight last year. Now, I'm sure I don't do even a portion of the stuff a number of you do. Mine take care of what I've needed to do and that all that matters, right? ??? Sounds like some of you all have some pretty choice equipment though and that's cool. 8)

DEFINITION OF COMMON TOOLS

DRILL PRESS:
A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, denting the freshly-painted CB750 tank which you had carefully set in the corner where nothing could get to it.

Scott

P.S. I modified the definition by adding CB750 tank were vertical stabilizer was to make it more appropriate for this forum.

I'm a little late on this topic but I bought a Rigid floor standing drill press from Home Depot...uncontrollable shudder...a few of years ago for my woodworking shop. I did a fair amount of research before buying it and it pretty much stood out in it's class and price range. It beat out presses costing a lot more in some comparisons. The most impressive quality for me is that it has far less run out than any other press tested against it. I don't remember what I paid for it but it was probably in the low to mid $300s.

I don't remember exactly, about $120 and it has done what I needed to do, so far. I figure that it's about the quality of something from Harbor Freight. Of course, I don't expect to be using it for the more delicate things that a number of you all do. Doe example, any tapping I will be doing, will be done by hand. I enjoy hearing about the details of the things that you all have been doing eith your drill pressed though, so don't stop on my account. :)
