neither, they both cost you time off the line. learn to ride the clutch out off the line and once under way let the rest of the clutch go. it will take a couple of runs to find the ideal amount of clutch to use but is effective.

I highly doubt the benly 125 is capable of either without doing one of the 2:

1: really trying to pop a wheely, by pulling up as hard as possible while sitting as far back as possible, and dropping the clutch from WOT.

2: having someone lift the back so that the back tire is barely touching the ground so you can get some wheelspin..

You are looking at maybe 12 or 13hp.

I wouldnt worry about either issues at this point.

Things will change as you move up in bikes, of course.

Or did I just not catch some sarcasm?

In any case, have fun.
No.

Hi Mark, pleased to see you posting again. Ben is only 12 and a little bit on the eager side ;D ;D ;D
The Benly he'll be riding is capable of doing both without any heavy clutch dumping or yanking up on the bars.
I've been racing it for years and that's not samcasm  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Less than 200lbs? Wow, that's light.

In Portland theres the 160 class. Awesome stuff.

http://viciouscycle.com/CB160.html

Was going to build a 160 for Ryan (R550) to race next season, but had my accident.

Some of these suckers hit 90mph+
Second favorite class to V5 out here.

Have good fun, benly, and be safe.

Nice work on the bike, Sam. Got some pics?/edit: ok, Ill ask bill. Thanks!

The race Benly is 185 lbs and you can believe it or not, the sprinter is only 139lb.

Are you still at the address I have for you, if not PM me your address and I'll post some pics to you.

Yes, same email as before :)

Hell, my race 350 is going to be a hundred pounds heavier. 'Course, will be making a fair bit more power, but sub 200lbs would be awesome.

Looking forward to the pics!

Awesome but maybe flexxy! Imagine having no suspension cause the frame does it all! ;D  I bet that would be a fun ride! Now imagine if you crammed a 2-stroke in there! :o

I agree. Don't want to do a wheelie in a grid of racers. But I came from dragracing and when i roadraced I always dumped the clutch for wheelspin. If its a dragrace start, you dump the clutch, modulate the throttle to control wheelspin. From rows back i was always first to the first turn, passing those that were slipping the clutch. (Never seen a Christmas Tree) It was after the first turn that i had problems.  ;)
