These have always been an obsession of mine too! A 68' Royal Enfield 750 Interceptor. Bought the only thing I'd want to change, would be Ownership! ::) 8) ;)

It's funny how owning an older bike changes your view of things.  A few years ago I wouldn't have liked that very much.  After owning my CB I've gained an appreciation for ones like this.  I'd have to say it's a very nice bike indeed.

very nice

I agree! ;)  I had the opportunity to ride a 66' model TT Interceptor, back in the day (actually in 1966) and I sould like to have just kept on going..... and going...... and going! :D I sure hated to give the bike back to it's owner. I just Know I could have given it a Better home! ;D We had a friend of the family who bought a brand new 57' Indian (rebadged Royal Enfield) 700cc Apache and I thought that was the best looking motorcycle I thought I'd ever seen! ;) And, I have never seen a decent picture of one online, that I could save and post at a time like this. ::) You see, the 58' and later Apaches had the rear fender mounted to the swingarm, so that it went up and down with the rear wheel! :P This looked totally stupid on this bike, caused the seat to appear to be sticking up in the air. Anyway, guys kept after him to enter the Apache in the weekend racing events, cause they just knew that their Triumphs, Sportsters and BSAs would beat it. Well, one day, it was more than he could stand. He took the lights off, pulled the mufflers off, put some straight pipe extensions on that he'd come with, took it out and did some practicing with it, took it out to the track and mopped up those other bikes, took it back home, put it all back together and never another word was said about racing that Apache! :D ;)

Almost got a Constellation (1960?) at auction before my 550. I say almost because someone had the gall to bring money and out bid me. Apparently, pocket lint doesn't go very far these days.

Just as well. I likely would have turned into one of those Brit bike Cafe Racer snobs.

May be off topic, but how hard would it to be to work on one of those???

Is parts expensive?

How much do they usually go for fully restored, that is, if you can get your hands on one?

Just curious
Cafe Racing is mainly a matter of taste. It is an atavistic mentality, a peculiar mix of low style, high speed, pure dumbness, and overweening commitment to the Cafe Life and all its dangerous pleasures. I am a Cafe Racer myself, on some days - and it is one of my finest addictions. ~H. S. Thompson~

Parts in UK not too bad, probably you would say way expensiveas we seem to be prepared to pay more, there are specialists but as always tinware is difficult, not sure on price now but was arround £6,000 (thats about$10,000 to you)
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Yeah, they usually are a bit pricey here! Don't see them on ebay very often. Seems like I've seen them for about $ 4-5,000! Those were in good shape. Not that bad to work on, best I remember (been a very long time though. ::)
