Hutch...... both the indicator lights (oil pressure and neutral switch) operate the same way. When you switch on your bike, power should be on to both lamps (use your test light, tip to wire/ clamp on ground). Your oil pressure switch should be sending a ground when the engine is NOT running. Test the screw holding the wire at the switch and then the wire at your light (use your test light tip to screw and wire at light/ clamp on + of battery). When you start up, oil switch should no longer provide a ground, your indicator light will go off. Neutral switch is the same, supplies a ground only when in neutral. The instant you select a gear, ground opens, light goes out.......
If both your lamps have power, but don’t work, usually suggests the switches are broken (not sending a ground) or the wires from them are open (not transmitting the ground).
