Anyone got any tricks to get this last engine bolt out
« on: September 16, 2012, 07:47:07 AM »
I have a old cb500 engine that has been sitting in the frame for awhile now and want to remove it so I can store the frame and move stuff around a bit easier.

This last bolt is being a pain to get out seems like it is bent so its not coming out easy. Anyone have a trick to help me out here.

Thanks Matt

A drift punch and a BFH comes to mind! Have you tried jacking the motor up slightly to relieve any pressure?

Same problem with my 750... What Stev-o said. A little lift was all it needed.

If you mean the long bolt, it will be loose as soon as it clears the frame portion. If willing to replace you can cut off the head or  drill a hole in a bar to put over the threaded part to straighten(it will hurt the threads) If you take the time to tap a correct hole in a bar, you may get it quite straight..

I spun it with an impact while pushing with a drift pin. Spray some lube where ever it has a chance to soak in. Some of them get quite corroded inside.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Dont spin it, it will try to enlarge the hole, they are oversized already...
