Installing gauge
« on: January 25, 2009, 08:48:06 PM »
Is it possible to use all the existing wiring and hook it up to a new/different speedo?  Will a 'universal' speedo like those seen on ebay wire up easily?

the cyclex style should work fine on the 750, i think the smaller bikes have a different speedo ratio (i think) .   but you should be fine ..... assuming your talking about something similar to this

the cb uses a mechanical speedo right?  Ultimately I want to use a speedo from a car or boat, just to be unique. It seems with the mechanical ones there are just two wires, just like those you have shown above

A boat speedo would be tough, since it drags a fin through the moving water to sense speed. I suppose you could mount it on a stick and drag it through water in the ditch to see how fast you are going though. ;D
