Fork Oil
« on: February 02, 2009, 01:59:14 PM »
I've got a couple of conflicting figures with regard to fork oil on my 76 CB750 K6?

I've installed Hagon Progressive spings and the instructions say oil should be a distance from top of stanchion, rather than a volume.

Anyone know if 7.3Oz is the correct volume to use in each fork leg on my CB750?

Thanks in advance...

Steve  :)

According to the Honda Shop manual for the
K1
It's 7.5-7.8 oz to fill if dry and 6.9-7.1 oz to fill after draining.

K2, K3, K4
It's 7.5-7.8 oz to fill if dry and 5.3-5.4 oz to fill after draining.

Try the SEARCH function, there my be 1 or 2 threads on fork oil  ;) ;)

Cheers

Thanks Jako.

The design seems to change with the later ones from what I can see in the shop manual, parts fisches and what I have.

Did a search before posting but if it's around 5-7 Oz that seems right.

Just wondered if progressive fork spings made a difference.

When I did my Progressive Suspension springs, RaceTech Valve Emulators, and fork rebuild, I tried the manual specified amount of fork oil, and it was WAY too little. Go with the measurement down from the top of the compressed fork method your spring install instructions give you, and experiment a little with the oil volume. I believe I went a little (1/4-1/2") higher then my install instructions suggested and I am quite pleased with the results.

That's 300mm I believe. The front end seems way too soft with 7-8oz and really compress with the bikes weight.

300mm? I want to say I settled on 5 1/4 inches down from the top. 300mm would be in the neighborhood of 11 inches, non?

Says 300mm from the bottom, when compressed :)

Should the oil be higher for these progressive springs?
