« on: February 04, 2009, 07:20:13 PM »
sadly tis me again. simple task:       pull apart my petcocks for cleaning
simple method:  remove small split pin that retains a spring and washer, petcock then can be pulled apart
simpleton does: removes split pin, spring and washer disappear into dark recesses of garage
simple solution:  is that the pub calling my name ?

sorry Sam, not this time. just pulled the other one apart(carefully this time) that's a strong little spring so I think searching is out of the question. the good news is , well not sure but I have all sorts of #$%*e and might be able to coble something together that wont detract from the nice brass petcock.

That's nothing.
Guess who decided on a novel idea of drying all my steering yoke ball bearings with an air compressor pistol?
Yup, you got it. Me.
All 37 of them just flew all over the shed in 0.00001 of a second.
Took me 3 days to find them all.
Now THATS dumb.

How about taking the head down to the car wash and jet blasting all of the little washers down the drain? Or...the dumbest thing ever done:

My dad had a trick he used to do; bike on center stand, start up, engage first and rock back as you let the clutch out and off you go.

Thinks I, "I can do that!"
Bike started , engage 1st and release clutch;bike stalls. Hmmmm, try again. Same thing. Try a third time, more revs, still stalls! WTF?

My sister who had been watching sez "Shouldn't you take the CHAIN off 1st?"

The chain? The CHAIN!!!! I had a huge chain run through the rear wheel and around the swingarm and padlocked!

Replace all spokes, beat mangled chain guard into shape and wait 2 months for new shocks to arrive from Japan (national backorder).

Hey, I was 16!!! :)
