1969 engine value
« on: February 09, 2009, 01:44:51 PM »
Hello , I am new here and have a question I hope someone can help me with. What would a 1969 cb750 motor with ser# 10,6xx be worth. The motor needs the carbs rebuilt but is basically in running condition good compression.
      Thank you, Bill

Any damage under the chain cover, or any broken mounts, or fins?

I was thinking a K0 would have a number 104xxx or less. Could be wrong, on this site somewhere. Mine is 6/70 and starts 103xxx mine may not be original to the bike though.

Don, I think you're missing a digit there, K0 should run 1000001~1044650. And as I scroll back through the thread, looks like the OP did too. I think he meant to say 1006000 (would that make it sandcast? Or stamped afterward?) and yours is probably 103xxxx...But I guess if has 106xxxx, then he doesn't have K0.

Sorry to get all pedantic.

Bill,
I paid $100 for a seized KO motor in great condition otherwise (no broken fins, paint almost perfect) 2 years ago and was happy to pay $700 for a seized very early sandcast that needed paint and did not have the round oil filter housing, cases in good condition. I have a 12/69 built K0 that has engine number 1016446 as well.
The sandcast engines went from 100001 to 1007414 I believe, according to my parts book. Recheck your engine number, I think you dropped a number as stated earlier. Also count the screw holes in the clutch cover on, 9 holes and it's a sandcast, 10 it's a diecast but may still be a very early motor.
Hope this helps.
Cliff.

Umm. ...I am seeing he is referring to thge last 5 numbers, much as the last sandcast is #7,4XX.. if you follow..

 Where is said motor located?

You are correct O great one. I / we left off an X.  If he has a sandcast it would be worth restoring a bike around right? I feel bad not restoring my rusted out 70, boy was it hacked up, It was in dirt and not visible until I moved a bush.
