I was just looking through the forum stats and noticed something.

Four of the top ten topics (rated by number of replies) have to do with Beer, Guns, and Harleys!   :P :P

NO I wouldnt own a hardly longer than it would take me to sell it if I Won a contest.  I could buy several sohc's.  Also if I got one i'd have to keep it in the garage and not ride it but brag about the bike I have but dont ride and buy sparkly leather with fringe. Although you can pick up SDC and get who knows what.

Isn't this post making it a self fullfilling prophesey?

So to have a cool Harley FIRST you need your own machine shop - I think we all know a guy who might fit the profile  - eh Terry!
In the UK anything over 40 years old only needs insurance and Fuel.

Nothing wrong with owning a Harley guys, they're as American as getting wasted and accidentally shooting your best buddy, ha ha! Actually i use my machine shop to keep my fleet of ageing "Jappers" going, when I had my Harley it was a very reliable bike, for sure.  Cheers, Terry. (Harley admirer) ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Sorry but Hardly Abletoos, Harley Fergusons or Massey Davidsons are a right #$%* to work on without lots of expensive special tools and be fair what moron designs an ignition pickup plate that has to be pop riveted on and requires the use blind pop rivets so the pop bit cant fall out of the back into the advance mechanism
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

I give up mate, Edward Turner? James Norton? Joe Lucas? Lord Hesketh? There used to be a song over here that went "I've got a Beeza 500 that pisses and farts, and every five miles it's ready for parts!". Glass houses Bryan, glass houses............ Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yes Teryy but rememberthat the brit stuff fell apart so regularly that if you couldnt find a part in the road Every shop had one  and you didnt need special tools--gallons of locktite and gasket goo yes. The bikes we Hated to see come through the door of the workshop were topped by the Harleys, followed by the italians then the British and finaly the japs It was basically frustration with "how the hell do i do this" and "How long" when ordering the bits.

Fair one mate, I had a Ducati 900SS and a BMW R100RS that I could have happily burned for the insurance, as long as we agree that most non Japanese bikes are, er, "Quirky"? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Terry Its very rare i actually disagree with your thoughts, same as its rare to get the keyboard time like today. Its also great to be able to banter when knowing that it wont be taken (too) seriously or upset people. This forum is a fantastic resource and i am happy to pass on any tips and knowledge i have aquired over the (to many) years to some of these "youngsters" Have a great day mate.

I find the Harley Furgesons funny really. ::) They do seem to be buying a name brand and not really getting anything different. Just last week I stopped in a local watering hole to put up my "Wanted" dead or alive "your old motorcycle flyers up. I was harrassed right after I backed the my CB 750 to the curb. As they bantered and I did not respond I could hear their theme song in the background. You know the one "One toof, no brains, no problem". I passed them by, went in and posted my flyer. I got back on my bike pulled away from the curb and along side the one with two teef. I asked him if he wanted to put his money where is mouth was. I said "I'll bet two rounds for your entire club that I can loose you within the first four corners". If I win you go home with your tail between your legs and never talk trash to me again. "You ready?" He kicks his bike and says some thing unintelligable about make'in my bike eat' sumptin. I reved her up and told him "Now stick with me sweetness, this won't be easy"

By corner three he disappeared from my mirrors and I just continued to pour it on. Funny I do remember him wobbling in turn two ::). Was fun but the price was a premature valve adjustment needed. >:(

I really do like the fact that the 750 four is ALL business after 4,000 RPM.

Ah, good old stereotypes, where would we be without them? Sure there are dickheads who ride Harleys, but owning an SOHC-4 doesn't increase your IQ, replace missing teeth, or improve your diction, after all, it's just a motorcycle.

As much as I love my 750's, with the torque that only a big twin can produce, my old Sporty would crap on them off the line and with it's well designed frame, excellent brakes and low C of G, would definately out-brake and out-handle them in the twisties. If you've never owned one, you'll never know. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Jeez!  I was just pointing out something I saw on the stats page that was funny.  Never meant to start yet another Harley-bashing thread.  To each his own.

Now how's about the most important of the three big topics?

;D BEER  BEER  BEER ;D                                                         ;D BEER  BEER  BEER ;D

Ok Steve, can we move the Oz vs World XI posts to keep it on the boil? There's the "Super-Test" starting next week, and the all-new(ish) Aussie team that kicked the rest of the world in the last few days (we should have sent them over to your side of the pond in July/August) are keen to ensure we stay in our rightful place as the worlds best, bar none! Cheers, Terry. ;D

Terry - as I've said on another (highjacked) thread.  Who cares.  We won the one that matters...
