Incredibly uneven brake pad wear, '79 cb650

I’ve had this bike for 2 months now and decided to check the brake pads.
The rear drum brakes were it great shape however the front (single brakes) pads have worn incredibly uneven. The inside pad (closest to the rim) has plenty of material left, about 3/8”. The outside pad that the caliper pushes is almost gone. It only has about 1/8” of material.
Can anyone tell me what would cause the pads to wear so unevenly besides just bad pads?
Thanks,
Scott

PO probably didn't replace both pads at the same time.

Thanks, I'll look for the seized slider/pivot.
That sound like it could have come from not keeping it clean or maybe greased.

Scott rebuild the caliper while you have it out. That and new pads and you won't look at it again for years.

Had is apart this weekend and the bolts that hold both sides together were not sliding like they should.
Cleaned it up and is works well.
BTW: What constitutes a rebuild of the caliper?
It seems to function as it should.
I need to add some brake fluid so I'll wait for a response before I bleed the lines.
Thanks.

removing the piston, unbolt and pump add fluid and pump untill the piston comes out. Remove the square lip seal clean the groove it sits in real good, and replace seal. Put it together and Bleed, then ride for another 30 years.
