Tool for plugs on wiring harness,?
« on: December 15, 2008, 04:17:16 PM »
I have a few 77 or 78 F harnesses, that were on bikes outside with no sidecovers, tank or seat. The plugs got real hard and crack easily.

If you can switch to your old ones or others, they would be good harness to use.

Anyone change these?

Each pin is held into the connector by a small metal barb that sticks out of the side of the pin.  They make a special tool that depresses this barb and allows the pins to slide out.

VintageConnections.com carries them:

Edit, they also carry the connectors, pins, and crimping tools, naturally :)

A jeweler's-size screwdriver will also extract the blades and sockets.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

I made mine out of finish nails.  hammer and grind them into shape, use a short stick as a handle.
