Handlebars
« on: March 02, 2009, 07:26:57 PM »
Looking for new bars, hoping someone might be able to help. I have stock bars on my '77 CB750k, want something a little lower. My father has straight, flat drag bars on his '78 750k. They are just a tad to low (as I'm 6'6" and my knees are up a bit high for such low bars). I was hoping to find something with maybe a 2" rise. It might be ignorance, but I can seem to find anything like them. The closest thing I've found are "European" bars on eBay.

Will these work? Thoughts?

Thanks again,
-Kevin

I think those would work.  Here is the body parts page from Z1 Enterprises.  The bars are listed with rise and pullback measurements so you can compare.

sweet, I had no clue about Z1. Thank you.

Is there any issue with shorter bars(hands closer together)? Stability I suppose? Or a lack of pull back? I guess I'm thinking 2" rise, and a very small pullback.

"European" bars or similar are the way to go. To often I see the most beautifull bikes pass in this forum. Many of them are equipped with those silly American-market type bars that can never give you the true joy of cornering.

Haha you are such a snob Delta....too funny. If you cant corner with funny American-market bars then you must be doing something wrong  ;)  ;D

cheers

Maybe I did express myself wrongly. It's about nice, swift rides on curvy mountainroads. I can't see what fun that can be sitting in an upright position.

Here in the UK, '80s period CB400 twins came with bars that had a 2" rise. I had a set on my CB550 for a while before I fitted the current clubmans, and found they gave a far nicer riding position than the stock ape-hangers.

I've still got them in the garage, you can have them FOC if you cover the cost of shipping.
