Chrome gauge cups or covers?
« on: October 14, 2005, 12:37:50 AM »
Ok guys how are these done? I've seen the vinyl gauge overlays but don't know the story on the chrome gauge cups and chrome gauge rings.

Are they stock parts? Rechromed? Adapted? Where can I get them for a reasonable price?

Please let me know as they call  to me and I can't pay the 200 bux I've seen them sell for.

G'Day Mate, they're just a chrome accessory cover that slip over your existing gauges. Great things to hide dented, scraped or otherwise grotty gauge bezels. Look on Ebay, I've bought a couple of sets in recent years, and they're a great dress up for tired old gauges, if you're lucky you'll find a set for under $50.00. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Give these guys a call. They had them on their website a few months ago for around $40 new. Not there now, but probably still in stock, as they still have some for KZ's. http://www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/

Frostypuck,
Great site. I love when someone turns me onto a new site for parts. Good stuff.

I bought a set from Cycle-Re-Cycle this past May for $20. Quality and Fit was nice. Slight trouble with mounting screws....big hands...small screws....

I just looked those up on cyclerecycle and all I found were Kawasaki for $30.00 . They were under general accessories. I also would like to get some of those. I seen them on one of Carpy's sites and I fell in love! It will be a nice detail plus I would like to strip and polish the left & right controls, indicator bezel and master cylinder.Of course all of this stuff is on the winter project list. If anyone else knows where to bag these chrome gauge covers, put up a post.I have never seen them on Ebay.

How hard is it to remove and replace the internals to the switches? I have an extra set I could polish that are off the bike.

That depends on how good you are with tiny little parts that love to jump out at you and then hide in every dark corner of the garage.

The last right side control I tried to open up,I unscrewed the starter button and it self destructed and went flyin all over the garage. This #$%* is old but I do remember someone posted about fitting a Radio Shack switch into that control so I guess it would be possible to do it (DEFINETLY a winter project!)
