Happy Dance! I finally got my HM341s installed!!
« on: March 28, 2009, 11:03:39 PM »
It took over a month to scrounge all the parts & an addl week on working on it in 15 minute intervals between dinner & getting the kids to bed but... now they're on!!

Man! OEM pipes sound soooo nice!

The PO was a Harley guy & thought the 750 should sound like one so he put on Mac 4-2s and drove it around way over geared so it made gurgling, flatulent noises.

No longer. Installed used 341s and rejetted. Now it actually runs well and sounds like a Ferrari.
So cool!

The only "problem" is now it's so much quieter that I redlined it a few times on the initial test ride - it just humms along instead of popping and farting so I didn't notice how fast it was revving (or how fast I was going  ;D )

Nice, hopefully I'll be able to afford some 340's or 41's sometime soon.

Nice going Grumpy, I'm a dedicated fan of these bikes having stock pipes and maintaining that great "Honda" sound. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

I have a brand new set of 341s that are going on my K6 real soon.  Like you, I needed to scavenge for a long time to get all the pieces parts (studs, collars, kickstand & centerstand stop, long bolts for footpegs, heat shields, etc.)

I'm just ready to put them on and I make a barn find that could change it all.  I found a K0 with an apparently good engine.  The bike was literally "hatcheted" into pieces.  It seems a young lad wanted to make a go-kart.  Well, he picked an excellent engine - I'll give him that.  He later lost interest and now I have a pile of K0 parts.

Here's my dilemma: Do I replace the engine in the K6 with the mystery K0 engine (ser# CB750E-1038053, 21K miles).  The K6 engine runs nicely at 40-something horsepower and 18K miles.  I'm told the K0 is significantly nicer on the HP front :)  Back down to earth for a second - I have to do a compression test on the K0 engine.

I cannot wait to hear the HM341s on either engine.

I love the sound of the stock pipes. I took hondamans advice and bought some 3 foot drill bits, opened mine up a bit. Still sounds great, got a little extra noise and a little extra flow.
No.
