Topic: A week away from getting my motorcycle license.

I finished up my basic motorcycle rider course today, it sure was fun.
Learned lots of stuff and cannot wait to be road legal.

Here is a lnk on my last mishap, not to discourage ya there, but just a remider what can happen. Oh ya, shattered the leg from ankle joint to knee. Going on my 7th surgery now,count down 3 days now,  but hey I am still riding.

always remember those cagers are out to get ya, intentially or not. Uhmmm, this one was not from cager, just doing a showbaot for some JR riders and ran across some mechanical failures

I took the rider course through Team Oregon motorcycle safety program.
It was a 16 hour course with about 4 hours of class time and 12 hours of course time.
lots of information getting thrown at You in a short amount of time, just waiting for my completion card to arrive in the mail then off to the DMV.

In Alabama we don't have to take a riding test or pass a course to get the motorcycle endorsement.  I had never ridden before I went in to take the written test.  I passed it and became legal.  I took the MSF course before I bought my first bike, because even though I was licensed to ride, I had no idea how to.

I just think about all those kids in Alabama that get their license and go buy a bike and wind up getting hurt.  It's time for AL to move out of the dark ages; I think we're the last state left that doesn't require a training course or at least a riding test to be legal.

Minnesota does not require the MSF course to be a legal driver, as long as you are 18 you can get your permit on Monday and take the road test on Tuesday.  I got my permit about two months ago, and am going to take the MSF course in the spring.  If you take the course it does count as your road test, but you don't have to take it.  It is a good idea though...

It's the same way here in Oregon.
 I wish I had taken something like this when I first started to drive cars, Would have taught me more than my screaming Dad could have and saved me a fortune on insurance not to mention a couple of totaled cars javascript:void(0);

Wow, Kentucky is a lot stricter than i thought.  We even have a variable wait time between permit and license based on age.  Over 21, you take the permit test, wait thirty days and then you can get your license either with the regular state skills test or the MSF Basic RiderCourse.  Under 21, you have to wait 6 months rather than thirty days.
