When adjusting your valves...
« on: May 02, 2009, 07:02:47 AM »

make sure your ride is not in gear (while strapped down) as you slowly turn the motor over.  You run the risk of that 'special washer' popping the tabs off the advancer thingie, making it completely non-functional.

Do not ask me how I know this.

Yeah...I don't like using that.

I bump it with the kickstarter...too chicken to use that little shaft

Pull the plugs first, then use the kickstart lever at the same time as a wrench on the end of the crank.

Yeah, I ended up bumping the kickstarter, which really wasn't too difficult.

Still ticked at myself that I didn't notice the amount of resistance.  I did the exhaust valves and then waited a few days to do the intakes, shifter must have gotten bumped in the meantime.

But...omg adjusting valves really livened up my bike!!  Instead of talking to Molly nicely to try and convince her to start while giving her more throttle than I think it should take and rubbing her gently all the while...she pops after a couple spins choked and cold.

W00T!

Wow, sounds like a paragraph out of some crime thriller novel.
