Polishing a CB550 valve cover......
« on: May 02, 2009, 09:49:38 AM »
What do you use to get down into the small areas?  Rotary tool?  Elbow grease?  Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

blasting with ground walnut shell media got all the paint and crud off without beating up the metal. the cover still gets paint, but the end pieces, breather cover, carb tops, float bowls.....

rotary tool and elbow grease.

750 valve covers came clear coated 550's were painted, so the surface of the 750 cover is more prepared to polish than that of the 550, also the 750 cover has wider and flatter surfaces, and less nooks and crannies than the 550. Not, saying it couldn't be done, it would probably look really cool if it was done right, just that the perfectionist in me just doesn't have that kind of patience.
