Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.

I must now throw my name into the ring. I get great satisfaction from both idle fiddling and kick starting. Kick starting is a necessary way to show the bike who's boss (establishing badassery) and idle fiddling is a way to tell her to settle down (confirming badassery). And what else are you going to do at a stoplight, bounce up and down on your bike???

No, no, no IC.  It's all the nonidlefilddlers that have fallen off the wagon.  It's kind of like reverse AA, where all the people who don't do it are the ones who should be going through the program.

That's one of the best things about these bikes--I love the fact that most people don't know what you're doing. I don't actually adjust the idle, just the choke lever. There is a grace about machinery and the people who use it and know it (or just abide it). The dude abides. Of course my idle has never been right so maybe we're just masochists. I ain't payin' $3000 for a #$%*ty used crotch rocket just so I can fit in with my buddies' rides. I'm a cheap bastard though. Would be nice to get this thing on the road. And now I'm just rambling. It's nice to find a place where people understand the patience needed to restore and resurrect old bikes.

i too was an idle fiddler till i got the right hand controls with the little screw in it that was used for cruise control. i set the idle while the motor was nice and warm, then when i first start it i just set the screw so that it holds the idle up. while i put my gear on the bike is warming up and it's ready to go as soon as my gear is on.

One of the forum members is coming over tomorrow to take away my 350.  It has one of those screw throttle things, and I might ask him if I can keep it.  I never saw them before and I really think they are neato.  Translation:  Must have one!

I've seen it before... "I'm not an alcoholic, I drink beer!"  Admit it Fuzz, you still IdleFiddle, it's just you've replaced the under-tank, reach around fiddle for the less obvious grip fiddle!  The first step is admitting the problem, Fuzzy!!

If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.

Fuzzy is what you would call an upper-deck fiddler.  I've seen it before.  It is not as obvious an addiction as the street level idle fiddling that we are used to, but it is none the less, a social disorder by definition.  In some circles, the upper-deck fiddler is considered to be the most hardcore of idle fiddlers given that they have taken so much time to mask the more common street idle fiddling.

Going through another kicking phase. I can't help it. She's a one kick start using very little force behind the kick. Waiting for the sun to come out a little more and I'm going kicking and idlefiddling some more. I especially iddlefiddle around people driving cars hoping it making them feel uncomfortable and alienated.
We do need patches and pamphlets!!!!!!!!!!!

If I fiddle with my upper fiddler screw ("fiddler" is a Japanese word right?  ;)) on the throttle, it doesn't actually hold the throttle in place. Someone once said that I might be missing the brake part that actually holds the throttle once the screw is fiddled in. Anybody know anything about this?

Are you trying to convert to an upper deck fiddler?  Have you no shame?
