Well, It Was Time,The carbs were acting up a little. Decided to do a minor cleaning job on the carbs. Removed the air box. Sprayed a carb cleaner that claims to be safe for
most plastic and rubber parts. Sprayed all the air passages and into the slides; blew it out with a can of air. Started the engine, sprayed into carbs with the engine going. Things seemed better. I had just installed new fuel hoses.
Gave the old '74 750 K a casual 90 mile long road trip (180 actually.....90 out, then back). This bike is completely stock, except for new heavy duty shocks on the rear and an oil pressure gauge I added. She ran so smooth and sweet. Felt like a race horse wanting to take the bit in her mouth and really go with it. I got the clear chance, so, for the first time, I let her lower her head and take the bit.
Smooth and quick from nowhere, she jumped up to 100+...... first time on this bike (how much +...... my secret and hers). She still had some left in her, but a hill and curve coming up. I let her settle down in her stride to about 85. Another clear open stretch, she took the bit again and went with it, smoothly....... effortlessly, again, 100+ ....... I was ecstatic with its engine sound,..... the handling felt so good and sure footed........
I treated her to a wash, polish and wax after I got home. She'd been mighty good to me. I gotta admit, I love her....... Wife's getting jealous........
